dacoit in Chambal and ran her own gang. Later, she surrendered to the police
and spent eleven years behind the bars. It was Uttar Pradesh government, led by
Mulayam Singh Yadav, which withdrew all cases against her. After two years of
her release, she contested the parliamentary election from Mirzapur
constituency and became victorious. She was assassinated by gunmen on 25 July
