The ancestral villages of US Vice President elect Kamala Harris in Tamil Nadu witnessed early Diwali as firecrackers were burst and sweets were distributed to celebrate her win. The residents of Thulasenthirapuram and Painganadu villages expressed their joy with fervour over the victory of "the woman of our house". The life-size photos and cutouts of Kamala Harris easily can be seen at various locations in the villages. The locals also arranged the special prayers. The villages, which are native to her maternal grandparents, were eagerly waiting for the outcome of the US Presidential elections. Fortunatley, as Joe Biden emerged victorious, it is evident that his running mate Kamala Harris would be his deputy. People gathered on roads in large numbers carrying the photos of Harris and handmade signs. Hundreds of digital banners have been put up in the area. Politicians cutting across party lines distributed sweets to the people. A local at Painganadu who drew a large 'kolam' (Rangoli) was all smiles when she hailed the victory of the "woman of our house." The colourful 'kolam' hailed Harris as the 'pride' of the village.
