The annual Bastille Day was celebrated with pomp and show in France amid restriction on public gathering due to COVID-19. The traditional military parade was organised down the famous avenue of the Champs Elysees in Paris. Authorities allowed only 10,000 spectators in stands to witness the parade ceremony. All spectators were required to present the health pass, which was a proof that person has been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The similar restrictions were in place for those gathering to attend fireworks show at the Eiffel Tower and in many French cities. The spectacular view of fireworks left everyone stunned. This year's celebration coincides with a surge in the number of Covid-19 infections, fuelled by the highly transmissible Delta variant which may trigger a new wave of the pandemic. Bastille Day is celebrated as France's National Day on July 14. On this day of the year 1789, French citizens stormed the Bastille prison in Paris, sparking the French Revolution.
