At least 24 people were killed and several injured in the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. Israeli air force retaliated after Hamas and other armed groups fired dozens of rockets towards Israel. Earlier on Monday, Israeli soldiers stormed the compound of Al-Aqsa mosque, firing stun grenades and tear gas. According to reports, nine children and some Hamas militants were also killed in the airstrikes. The Israeli forces claimed that 15 of the dead were militants. On the other hand, Gaza militants fired more than 200 rockets towards Israel, injuring six Israeli civilians. In last three-four days, the clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers left more than 700 Palestinians injured. Nearly 500 are being treated at different hospitals in Jerusalem and West Bank. The current violence, like previous rounds, was fueled by conflicting claims over Jerusalem, home to major holy sites of Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
