The famous iconic architecture of Paris - Notre Dame Cathedral is all set to get a contemporary renovation - Photogallery
The famous iconic architecture of Paris - Notre Dame Cathedral is all set to get a contemporary renovation. Notre Dame located on the eastern end of the Ile-de-la cite an Island on Seine river witnessed a catastrophic event last year. On April 15, 2019, a fire broke out during the reconstruction work which set the icon in flames. The church’s wood-lattice work roof and the famous 19th-century spire built by architect Eugene Violett-le-Duck was damaged. Since then, there was discussion around the reconstructing style for the damaged spire and roof. French President Emmanuel Macron recently announced that the iconic building will be restored with the original Gothic design. This announcement was followed by a meeting of France National Heritage and Architecture Commission. The Elysée has announced that the President has approved the main outline of the restructuring project presented by the experts and Chief architect Phillipe Villeneuve. The President wants the makeover to be completed by 2024, the same year when Paris will be hosting the Olympics. The first ever spire of the iconic building was built during the 13th century but it had undergone a lot of damage and was removed in the 18th century. When the historic building’s roof and spire collapsed last year, a lot of people from all around the world pooled in money for funds to be used for the restoration of the spire.
