Haitian President Jovenel Moise was assassinated by the gunmen at his home in the capital Port-au-Prince on Wednesday. His wife Martine Moise was also critically injured in the deadly attack. She is being treated at a hospital. The assassination inflicted more chaos on the Caribbean country that was already enduring gang wars, high inflation rate and protest by opposition supporters. However, the four "mercenaries" who assassinated the President were decimated by Haitian police in an operation. The two others were arrested alive. So far, police didn't identify the suspects or say what their motives were for the attack on Moise and his wife. Police chief Leon Charles said there were still more members of the hit squad at large. "As I speak, the police are engaged in battle with these assailants," he said. "We are chasing them so that either in the exchange of fire they will be killed or we will apprehend them," Charles further added.
